As of September 2018, I am an Assistant Professor of Media Studies at Queens College, The City University of New York (CUNY).
I received my Ph.D. in Chicana and Chicano Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in 2016. My academic research on media, language politics, humor, and race is largely influenced by the bilingual (Spanish-English) and Mexican media practices of my immigrant parents.
Currently, I'm sad about Jane the Virgin ending, excited about the future of One Day at a Time, and ready to support anything UnbeliEVAble Entertainment.
